Hello! My name is Jack Branch. I am in my first year here at Missouri State studying as a Marketing Management Major. I grew up locally here in Springfield and went to high school just down the road. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, riding BMX, traveling, and trying new things. I currently work at a local bike shop where I help play an important role in our media and events. I also work in a skate shop where I do similar tasks. Having two jobs related so closely to my hobbies and interests inspires me to one day have a business of my own. One huge career goal I have is flexibility. Being able to choose where and when I work has always been a goal of mine. The idea of traveling being a part of my career has always interested me.
I had first heard about AMA during a tabling event before my freshman year even started. Something that made AMA stand apart from all the other organizations at the event was definitely the community that the group provided. Before even joining, it looked like an exciting time, all while building experience and knowledge. Once I learned more about all the different events and trips possible with the organization, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
After consistently going to meetings and getting to know everyone, I started thinking about the exec board. I participated in similar groups back in high school and wanted to continue building connections and keep myself motivated. It was daunting learning about all the responsibilities, especially being so new to college, but I wanted to challenge myself. My exec role is the VP of Programming. With this position, I am continuing to learn how to organize events, lead teams, and meet with potential sponsors and business leaders.
Through AMA, I have learned so much about networking, marketing myself, building my resume, and so much more. Through all the different workshops and listening sessions, I have gained lots of confidence. Whether it is in a professional setting or just networking amongst my peers, I feel so much more confident in myself. I feel that it is one of the greatest things that AMA has helped me grow within myself. There are so many reasons to join AMA, but a recurring reason with our chapter is for the people! Whether you are a business major or not, it is so important to know how to market yourself, and that is why my biggest piece of advice is to join AMA!
