Head of Agency: Sarah Jeon

What's up my slimes! It’s Sarah Jeon, your Head of Agency. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Marketing on the Advertising and Promotions track and completing my second year at Missouri State University. I am also the Special Events Assistant for Ozarks Public Broadcasting, where I project manage OPT’s semi-annual fundraising auctions, assist with events, and create and complete drafts for social media posts. Before college, I lived in St. Louis, Missouri, where my creative hobbies were born. If I have the time, I love scrapbooking, junk journaling, making fun cards, drawing, painting, and more. Today, most of my creative outlet resides in writing, creative directing, and modeling for the culture, fashion, and opinion magazine, Shoutout Sartorial! Some of my less time-consuming interests include listening to music and spending time with my friends & f-AMA-ly.

My favorite thing to do when I have a little bit of free time is to decorate my room or binge-watch a show. Fun fact: I also enjoy playing the flute! I was in the Pride marching band as a freshman, and I am playing in Bearmania this year. After graduation, I hope to indulge in self-exploration and reflection, personally and professionally. The goal is to find a community that strives to give back and support others.

My first semester at Missouri State, I was originally a Management & Leadership major and felt a little lost. I spoke with Todd Euglow at the Career Center, who was more than happy and willing to help me get on the right path. After evaluating conversations and research, I decided to pursue Marketing with an emphasis in advertising & promotions. Not long after, I saw AMA’s obnoxiously large 10-foot tabling banner with the word “marketing” on it, chatted with the president, and signed up.

I attended a meeting hoping to get involved, saw a familiar face from class, and the next thing I knew, I was appointed VP of Membership. Getting to meet the rest of the E-Board through Build-Your-Own-Bouquet and LinkedIn to Lockedin felt easy; From bonding with Sage over Valentine’s music and wrapping friends’ bouquets, to filming Chase doing cartwheels down Glass Hall, I knew I had found the treasure trove of student marketers that continue to push and inspire me as an individual today. My role as part 2/2 VP of Membership consists of f-AMA-ly: increasing recruitment and maintaining retention, but also saying “Hey!” when you walk in Glass 344 on a Thursday night, showing an effort to learn everyone’s names, cultivating an inclusive environment, and making sure everyone has fun, is appreciated, supported, and important.

From AMA, I’ve learned that the business industry doesn’t have to be intimidating; There is a network out there waiting to be found. Everything is an opportunity if you make it one; I used to be terrible at public speaking and constantly feared it, but I used AMA as an excuse to step outside my comfort zone and work on a skill I hoped to grow through recruitment presentations.

Through AMA, I was able to experiment with and explore new leadership styles by catering to various groups. I pushed myself to become more independent and gained valuable exposure to the job market, LinkedIn, and Handshake, improved my resume, and spoke with recruiters from local organizations. For me, AMA is a plethora of exciting opportunities, from traveling for professional development to facing my personal fears. If you’re looking for a tight-knit community with a way to get involved wherever you look, this is the place for you. Show up, and show out! We don’t bite, so don’t be afraid and market yourself.
